About IABS

The Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences (IABS) (Regd.) has been established to foster research in translational sciences and to promote academic excellence in the field of Biomedical Sciences. Registered under the Societies Act 1860 of the Government of India, with Registration No. 2826-2011-2012, the academy serves as a pivotal platform for knowledge dissemination. The vision and establishment of the academy were spearheaded by Prof. Hari S. Sharma of the Department of Pathology, UV University, Amsterdam, Netherlands, in collaboration with Prof. Abbas Ali Mahdi during his visit to King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, India. Their joint efforts led to the formal registration of the academy on 7th February 2012 in Lucknow. The IABS continues to thrive, driven by the collective passion and contributions of scientists from India and abroad, aiming to advance the frontiers of biomedical sciences through collaborative research and innovation.
